One summer evening in 1990, the Blarney Brothers attended the Kerrville Folk Festival. As they sat around the campfire, a young man named Ned approached them with a song idea after hearing the band performing 'Old Maui.'
His idea evolved into 'With the Wind in the Rigging and the Rain on the Deck,' co-written by Rodger Harrison and C. Micheal Price. The name was changed to Ned's Chanty almost immediately.
