Well, I did go and see National Treasure 2 a couple days ago. Me and my friends absolutely loved it, and they decided that, if I was one of the characters in the movie, I'd apparently be Ben Gates... I forget why right now.

I think it was last year that one of my buddies left his backpack at a booth at the Norman renfaire and he was all in a frenzy running around to get it back. Oddly enough, his nickname around us is Backpack because he wears these pants that have endless pockets that we put all our water bottles in. We were teasing him with "Backpack left his backpack!" and "What do you need a backpack for anyway, Backpack?"
We're such meanies.

WarStorM, from what I've seen, they sit around, warbeling from time to time, eating all the free food they can get their dirty paws on... Except Harvey, he actually has some talent (shhh! don't tell the other guys!)

Key, I'll be looking forward to your future suggestions

TwoBit, that sucks! & here I thought I was the queen of leaving my bag (purse) behind... it's been left at both Disney Land & Niagra Falls & just about every relative's house. Luckily, I've grown out of that now. I'm on to diaper bags now!

(in regards to the Blog) I can totally relate to the gas problems, im hoping that with the new elections come solutions and fixes...altho im going to be the first to say that this will all end in tears.

A personal question? what do the bilge pumps do when not doing ren fairs?

And a not so personal, tho pertainent question, have you guys worked on new material? and if you have, when will you record/release it?

Hello, everyone!
Richard Brand, Normanite, on-deck! I have been a long-time watcher of The Bilge Pumps since 2002, when I was able to regularly attend the Norman Medieval Fair with my friends.
I thought I would open up my first post with a bit of an anecdote.
I finally bought my first Pumps CD (Brigands with Big'uns) back in 2005. That was when my Bilgy-Love fully blossomed! I had always enjoyed the shows, but never had the money to actually help support you guys. Imagine my joy in bringing you into my home!
Unfortunately, tragedy struck when I accidentally left my backpack on top of my friend's car after work on night. We drove down Highway 9 and it wasn't until I got home that I noticed it was missing. It contained three of my textbooks, my novel manuscript, and my CD case. That included, you guessed it, my beloved Bilge Pumps CD!
I returned to find the contents of my back pack strewn all over the highway, nearly 300 sheets of paper (all with my name on each page!) strewn about a mile. My CD's were all broken and destroyed. Luckily my textbooks survived, mostly. My History of the British Empire textbook had treadmarks across a few of the pages. Even worse, it was only June, and I ended up waiting until the next Fair to buy a replacement copy of Brigands. I could have ordered it online, but... I'm an idiot.
I just picked up Broadside Buddies at the recent Fair and I have to say you guys just keep getting better and better! I was only able to catch one of your shows this year (silly non pirate-loving fiances!)
I hope that wasn't too long a post for a newbie landlubber like myself!

That's okay Key - I'm a well-known Humphrey Bogart fan. The last of his movies is over 50 years old Now that's nerdy!

Y'know, I sat here for about ten minutes trying to think of what other movies I can suggest, and I realized all my favourite moves were made 10-20 years ago. Half of them are older than ME. I can't decide if this is nerdy or just sad. Ah well. Eventually I'll crawl out from under my rock and maybe I can help a bit more.

I have Sweeney Todd & I'm working my way to it. I've got 5 or 6 movies right now to watch not counting 4 or 5 on the DVR. Heck, I missed the season premiere of Doctor Who but the DVR is set back up for it. I still have 4 episodes of Lost to watch too.

Just been too busy lately to lounge on the couch all weekend & catch up

Welcome to the pirate-y insanity, Key.

BTW, "A Little Priest" is one of my favorite songs from Sweeny Todd... I get a kick out of the double entendre'.

"Here's the politician, so oily it's served with a doily. Have one!"
"Put it on a bun... Well, you never know when it's going to run!"

*snerk*

'Ello. Newbie here, but been following the Bilgies in all their...pumpy...glory(...?) for a couple years now. In fact, these guys are half the reason I'm a pirate-obsessed weirdo nowadays, really. And I ain't ashamed of it.

Saw the Bilge Pumps in Norman as well, and had a sore throat the next day from screaming "MACINTYRE!" so much. Good times. Yep, good times.

Oh, and on the subject of movies, I second Sweeny Todd as a must. And not only the 2008 Burton film either, but the older stage musicals are great to watch as well. Don't forget to try the Priest!

Sweeney Todd is a MUST!!! Natty you have to get Uncle Maroon to watch it!! Espically since you guys have turned Old Dun Cow into different Genres I would love to hear one of the guys bust out with a line or two from the movies... oh like, "There's a hole in the world like a great black pit, and it's filled with people who are filled with shit and the vermin of the world inhabit it and it goes by the name of London. At the top of the hole sit a privilidged few making mock of the vermin in the lower zoo. Turing beauty into Filth and greed."

*sigh* I love Sweeney Todd. I have the original movie poster hanging in my room.

MM, thanks for reminding me about Sweeney Todd (and everyone else too) My friends who got me into Dr. Who are going to get me into Torchwood as well. I don't watch much TV so I miss a lot of things. But I can watch series on DVD since it far more convenient. I will have to pick up Sweeney Todd here soon.

Got to rise from lurker status here and chime in to agree whole heartedly w/metalcelt re: the new Dr. Who series. Fantastic! I watch 4 series regularly (that's about all the TV I do) one of which is Dr. Who. Then there's Torchwood, an excellent spin-off.

Movie wise, I haven't been to see anything in theatres in such a long time! But I did recently rent The December Boys. It's a little Australian coming-of-age story... I liked it. And of course, Sweeny Todd. Looooooooved it.

Other than that, I have nothing to offer.

Angel, like I'm going to believe your boyfriend when it comes to you!! He has stars in his eyes, I'm sure!

Thanks for the movie suggestions. Unfortunately, I did see Cloverfield. Ugh! I did like Definitely, Maybe. Sperhero Movie might be something to Maroon & my taste - we do enjoy an over the top goofy movie once in awhile. Don't know 'til I see it though. I'll have to see about Fool's Gold. The previews looked awful, but it may surprise us. I like it when a movie surprises me. That's how I discovered 2 of my favorite movies...

TV - we love Firefly. I watched the old Dr Whos when I was a kid, but haven't watched the new one. Rent has a series - like the musical?

Thanks again everyone!

As far as Shutter I'm gonna pass because I just watched the original Thai movie recently and that was enough for me. Mediocre story and I doubt an Americanized version would be any better.

Nothing happened to Sharkbait's hand in Norman Okay, seriously, I was having a VERY bad morning on Saturday and in an attempt to calm my rage I punched a big green garbage dumpster. Squeegy and I took pictures of the dumpster with my skin ripped on it as well as my hand next to the spot I hit

Guess I just can't help myself sometimes but I do have an image to live up to of being "the grumblingest guitarist to ever join the band"
