The inaugural Lone Star Pirate Festival kicked off in bootylicious fashion as us Bilge Pumps helped begin what will hopefully be a yearly tradition in H-town as pirates gathered from all around to take in the pirate concert to rule them all.
We got to share a stage with our pirate music brethren The Musical Blades, Capt'n Tor & the Naer Do Well Cads, Blaggards, and Dem Damn Dames and the entertainment was spread about so thickly you couldn't swing a cat without hitting a smile.
The Bilge Pumps rub some pirate funk on the Warehouse Live Stage. Somehow, the audience didn't leave. Guess all the booze was inside.
Splice the Rigger gets his timber shivered at the sight of all the pirates mobbing the stage.
Here lies documented proof that Jack the Rum Runner does actually sing and play at the same time.
The Bilge Pumps show the audience how to properly punch the crap out of the pirate next to you.
John Crow the Cook basks in the glory of his horrible joke.
Fanny the Flagmaker goes full disco mode.
Maroon the Shantyman shows everyone how cold Cape Horn is during Pirating the Seas
Elizabeth the Stowaway whips out the tambourine in a vain attempt at keeping the band in time.
Splice shows his approval at the various nonsense that swirls around him.
Fanny pulls out her baby gator and laughs at the tragedy of children during Rippy the Gator.
Elizabeth reacts in horror to the story and to Fanny's reaction.
Elizabeth finally gets revenge on Splice, even though he's not the one telling the story.
Harvey the Corpsman leads the audience along in proper pirate speak during Piratical Talk.
Of course, John Crow has to try and one-up Harvey at everything.
Of course, a proper argument must take place.
They finally reach an agreement and the audience learns arrr-bonics.
Maroon breaks out his 6-string to start up Waterbound.
Then 22 other strings join in to make it sound like a real song.
Maroon tries to get the crowd even more rowdy than they were capable of.
When Maroon can't do it, Harvey steps up and gets it done.
The band keeps the entranced Fanny away from the dancing Elizabeth during Johnny Jump Up.
Splice and Crow just want to know what the big deal is about this song anyway.
So Harvey takes a moment and explains his theory of piratical evolution to them.
Crow points out the end result of the pirate evolution to Splice
Maroon gets all dramatic during his singing of the Dark Lady.
Elizabeth adds flute to really up the haunting tones in the song.
Jack adds his velvet guitar and thunder effects to the song
Somewhere around here is where John Crow lost his mind.
Maroon gets all rock and roll as the band plays Yo Ho.
John Crow is properly rocked.
Our friends Haggis Rampant join us on stage for a surprise during It's a Long Way to the Top.
Meanwhile, Maroon tries his best to match the key of the bagpipes with his voice.
No worries, Haggis Rampant can drown out anyone.
