Grand Prairie, TX     February 10, 2018

The 7th iteration of the Pirates on the Prairie concerts featured the Bilge Pumps teaming up with a brand-new band (to them, at least), the Selkie Girls! They successfully managed to follow us to the pirate side of music and dragged us grudgingly closer to the "music" side of music. Though the flu epidemic running through the area brought the attendance down some, the event was still a success, even if we were forced to eat half the Seadog Slam to survive.

The digital billboards around the city of Grand Prairie are advertising the best pirate show in North Texas in the month of February!

The pirates in the area are drawn to the mesmerizing lights on the marquee.

Our name in lights? Usually, that only happens on Post Office billboards.

Blackbead leads the Seadog Slam in some pirate poetry to kick off the evening of fun in the lobby

Then he pulls on his other hat (that looks just like his first one) and proceeds to introduce the acts.

Time for the Selkie Girls to bust out tight harmonies and musicality to dazzle the ears.

They also brought out the first harp and flute ever at a Pirates on the Prairie show. No mean feat, there.

Now that everyone's palette is refined by the nice music, bring on the Bilge Pumps!

The rest of the band knows exactly whose fault this whole thing is

Jack the Rum Runner gets the right idea when the didjeridu is whipped out for a show.

Harvey the Corpsman brings up the latest macho dancers for "Johnny Jump Up".

You know you've reached the slow down section of the show when all the guitars come out.

John Crow the Cook pulls a bell from a mysterious dark place and gives Splice the Rigger a nice big whiff of it.

Maroon the Shantyman steals Jack's idea and puts it to good use.

The band breaks into tears at the thought of Charlie Mops being all dessicated during "Beer".

It's OK. It's normal to jump with joy when the pirate music takes hold of your soul.

It's 3rd set time! That means both bands come out to dabble in some mixed up music with very little rehearsal.

The set starts with a Selkie Girls song, "Galway Girl", with Maroon focusing intently on not screwing up the beat.

John Crow takes over the title role of "Red Haired Mary", ensuring shenanigans aplenty

Splice demonstrates to the Selkie Girls how to ignore the idiots sharing the stage with them.

Allison and Jaycie ignore Maroon's instructions on how to get in touch with your inner pirate.

Elizabeth the Stowaway joins the band on stage, adding another flute for "Fire on the Mountain".

The concert wraps up with a nice sing-a-long of "Wagon Wheel".

Our thanks go to Donald Skidmore and Bart de Boisblanc for the picture donations.
