The Bilge Pumps - Past Landings: Louisiana Renaissance Festival 2017

Hammond, LA November 4 - 19, 2017

The Bilge Pumps returned to the LRF for three weekends at the pub that is not a pub and no one knows exists and staked our claim to its fertile soil. (And proceeded to make it more fertile by the crap we were slinging) Though the lineup changed from weekend to weekend, we managed to gather together most of us to put on a great after-hours show on the third weekend to help drown out the bagpipes... with more bagpipes!

Once again, the Paradox Pub stage backdrop never materialized, so the band was forced to re-use the one from last year they put together.	Week one of the festival gives us 4 Bilge Pumps to deafen the ears of even the toughest patron	Maroon the Shantyman and Jack the Rum Runner decide to do back-to-back shows.
The band celebrates anti-working by cranking out "Banana Boat Pirates"	So... see no evil, hear no evil, and... fart no evil?	Jack mesmerizes a child from the front row with his 12-string playing.
Harvey always like to start the day inciting riots by singing "Black & Tans"	Are these the faces of three people going to the bathroom at the same time?	Missing a dead Pat Murphy, the group improvised and grabbed a mead afficionado from the audience.
On week 2, there might have only been 3 Bilge Pumps, but that never stops Harvey the Corpsman from gathering up a dance crew.	Sharkbait Simon the Scapegoat will not be outdanced by some random dudes from the audience.	Harvey gathers up some of the first pumpettes to dance on "Johnny Jump Up"
Since the stage had no signage telling there was even a stage there, the group was forced to take steps... and learn to write.	The 3rd weekend of the festival brought 5 out of the 6 Bilge Pumps in to play.	Gather around children, it's Uncle Maroon's Storytime!
There was one child missing to tell the tale of "Rippy the Gator", so we snagged one from the crowd. Cajuns know about gators, right?	Sharkbait gets more crabs in the performance than he bargained for.	Nothing says a successful "Johnny Jump Up" like coordinated knee lifts.
The audience gathers up for the Bilge Pumps after-hours Electric Show.	The show went on into the night with lots of twists and turns and surprises for the audience.	On the last No Request Show of the festival, the band plays "The Captain's Daughter". Though only Sharkbait is showing the team spirit.
Maroon finally does what everyone in the band and the audience has wanted done for decades.	Harvey and Splice help remove the Kuato from Jack's chest.	There are times when one Rastafarian in the band is not enough.
