This cotton stowing shanty was popular around the 1840's and was sung primarily by Irish workers who would move to the warmer latitudes during the winter to work heaving cotton in the southern US. We really liked the melody of this tune, but the original lyrics didn't really fit our style, so we re-wrote 'em into a story about the aftermath of a pirate crew's battle at sea.
