This traditional tune has an accompanying dance where the dancer will recreate many chores of a sailor on board a tall ship while dancing, including hauling a line, looking out to sea, climbing the rigging, steering the wheel, etc. Captains in the Royal Navy would have their sailors dance the hornpipe to the sound of a fiddle to keep them fit an healthy during long voyages.
