The Bilge Pumps returned to the land of the red earth and were greeted by way more red earth than we'd expected. Heavy rain the previous couple of days left the festival grounds a quagmire as we and the patrons slogged through the muck. Our reward for such perseverance was 3 shows per day on the pirate stage, shared with our old friends the Scallywags and our new friends the Flint Hills Fairies. And there was much rejoicing...

With Black Pearl the Canooneer still recovering from hip surgery, only 6 pumps are allowed on stage.

That means Ruby Pearl the Quartermaster is forced to take up part-time drumming in addition to all her stringin' and singin' duties.

Sharkbait Simon the Scapegoat reacts favorably when he realizes there's actual pay for this show.

He's not getting paid enough, though, and was forced to sell his guitar and dignity for $20.00.

Maroon the Shantyman must stop the song and refect on Ruby's rhyme on "Donkey Riding".

Here is documented evidence that Maroon does listen to the band, but only in exaggerated theatrical instances.

The band doesn't appear to react favorably to Splice the Rigger's new tambourine.

The group eventually accepts it and starts grooving to "Beggarman".

John Crow the Cook eventually makes his way out into the crowd, begging for someone to give him a heart, a brain, courage, and some ruby slippers.
