We made our first appearance this year at the Guthrie Renaissance Festival and were welcomed with open arms and the occasional trebuchet shot.
The weather was threatening cold, wind, and rain all weekend, but we only ended up with a couple days of cold and wind and were able to pull off all our shows.
It was fun seeing a lot of new faces in the audience that have never seen our shows before and also running into old friends of ours from the Sooner state.
Friday night at the festival began with the Bilge Pumps short one Sharkbait, so Ruby Pearl the Quartermaster took over on guitar.
And John Crow the Cook seems especially excited about it.
Saturday came and brought a full complement of seven Bilge Pumps for the crowd to enjoy in so many ways.
However, Fanny the Flagmaker tuning her guitar was not one of the listed ways to enjoy the band.
The speakers are on stage for the show, meaning John Crow has an expensivne place to rest his beer.
Splice the Rigger finds lots of test subjects for his evil dance science during "Cape Cod Girls".
It worked! His mad plan has everyone dancing on "Shiver My Timbers".
The band poses for an album cover for an album no one would want to buy.
Maroon the Shantyman and Splice try to pretend nothing untowards is happening with John Crow.
Sunday brought some cold wind and sprinkling rain and Fanny and Ruby wanted nothing of it.
The cold didn't stop John Crow from keeping the audience warm by sheer friction.
When it's cold, you gotta warm up somehow.
Splice will do all sorts of unspeakeable things to keep Crow from running off to join the circus.
The Pearls had an emergency, so for the final 2 shows of the festival, the band was down to 5 members.
The band gives the Pearls a proper farewell salute.
Splice tries to get Sharkbait in the right mood to dance on "The Gun Shanty".
Fanny has to deal with all the melodrama of being in a pirate band.
The Bilge Pumps jump for joy over the fact they were downwind of the brisket place all weekend!
